Credit Cards - FUNdamentals
Ok ok, we know you know what credit cards are. These small plastic rectangles have been around for a while - everyone can get them, and everyone can use them. But not everyone can keep to the fundamental methods of proper credit card use. So lest review. Lets go over the reason for having credit cards around, and what you can do to avoid the disastrous consequences seen time and again with these financial tools.
What credit cards can, and cannot, do
From the beginning, credit cards are a convenient, safe way of performing financial transactions. Rather than carrying around bags of cash all the time and lugging around buckets of change, you can just swipe away - get what you want at the exact price you need. They're here for convenience, plain and simple, and succeeding with the card is just as basic:
- You watch what you buy just like you would watch the amount of cash you have remaining in the bank. Keep a balance, and stay within your spending limits.
- When it comes time to pay the bill, pay it off in its entirety.
- Its ok to have a few credit cards - no card is universal, and some benefits you might want hanging around that your first card cannot provide.
Cards are a good thing to have around - and as we all know, too much of a good thing will almost invariably lead to disaster. The number of people struggling to manage their credit cards is somewhere in the hundreds of millions - basically everyone will face credit card debt someday, and they will have a hard time getting out. And the reason is simple - when we have credit just sitting around, why not use it?
Bad credit! Thats why!
